"Smoke Like a Man" is a monodrama based on the life of the artist Frida Kahlo. This physical theater show reveals facets from the life of a complex opinionated, independent and rebellious woman. A woman who broke the social norm codes, dealt with identity and gender issues, from politics to art, and bravely paved the way for many women in years to come. Moments after the doctors informed her that her leg must be amputated, Frida ran to her room and locked herself inside. Going through the physical pain and an emotional storm, feeling as if the rooms' walls were closing in on her, while the doctors are pounding on her door, Frida mentally escapes into a journey of reckoning with her sick body and the social conventions she was raised into.
